Tis the Season

Marge’s Favorite Things

The below are some of my favorite things while organizing and I thought they might be the perfect gift for a loved one during the holiday season!

Marge's favorite organizing products, baskets, containers, rolling bag and acrylic holders
  1. Acrylic purse holders can hold all of your amazing clutches and bags!

  2. The Home Edit clear acrylic collection keeps all of your laundry neat and tidy.

  3. A must-have for the mom who is constantly organizing her pantry is my favorite Snack 4-slot Container.

  4. The Hulken Bag – No explanation needed. It is amazing!

  5. You can never have enough baskets! The Woven Water Hyacinth Milk Crate is the perfect catchall for multiple items within your home.

A Season of Giving

Donating during the current season increases the likelihood of someone wanting and NEEDING the items you can contribute!

For instance, donating gently used coats during November will make a BIGGER impact than donating those coats in June OR…the donation of your Aunt’s fine china to a local thrift shop might be the perfect choice for someone seeking a gift for their own loved one.

There are some wonderful local organizations that can benefit from your donations this holiday season. Please consider the following:

Ten Organizing Hacks that Don’t Cost a Thing

  1. Start with a clean slate. Fully empty the space before starting. Trust me- if you only empty half, you’re only decluttering half.

  2. Stop saving CENTS and save your own SENSE with some order. We save and hoard unmatched Tupperware, missing socks, old towels and much more that cost less than $10.

  3. Reuse! Shoeboxes, Apple product boxes, and more make great containers to create systems using items you already have on hand.  Even high-end clientele display their boxes - the Gucci green is a showstopper and can hold photos and cards…or off-season items like hats or gloves.

  4. Think outside the BOX - or plastic container. Antique ashtrays or jewelry dishes make the perfect drawer dividers.

  5. Paperwork is the weed taking over your home. Stop saving junk mail to review...throw it away immediately. Try implementing a system and a spot for important papers, such as a file folder.

  6. Truth: to maintain “high traffic spots” (pantry, junk drawer, entryway) you have to clean out over time. This is not a one-and-done!

  7. I like a small trash can in the closet- now, when you empty your bag/pants for the day or your luggage after travel - you will be prompted to empty and toss unwanted trash.

  8. Leave room to grow! Rooms evolve and change with the seasons; leaving room to add or remove is key.

  9. Less is more! You won’t achieve true order with 3000 things in one drawer. You have to edit and offload.

  10. Labels! You can use painters' tape, index cards or a simple sharpie. A label is the first step.
